What’s Title IX and Why Should We Care?

Since 1972, Title IX has been instrumental in growing women’s sports, ensuring that female athletes receive equal opportunities, equal benefits and a fair share of athletic scholarships. But many of our schools still don’t treat women’s sports fairly. We can change this. We can raise our voice and demand better treatment!

So what is Title IX? Simply put, it is a federal civil rights law that has been crucial in expanding women’s sports. Thanks to Title IX, there has been a 545% increase in the percentage of women playing college sports and a 990% increase in the percentage of women playing high school sports since it was enacted in 1972.  What Does Title IX say?  It ensures that schools or programs that receive federal funding provide equal educational opportunities regardless of sex....
