VOICEINSPORT Supports Women Athletes in College Programs Across the NCAA

VOICEINSPORT unlocks the power of mentorship, experts, and educational content for young women athletes across the NCAA, at schools including UCLA, Stanford, Yale and Johns Hopkins, in effort to create a healthier experience for student-athletes.

(NEW YORK CITY) December 28th, 2022-VOICEINSPORT (VIS), a global sports company, has been an integral part of supporting young women athletes across the NCAA as they navigate the challenges competing at the collegiate level.

Daily expectations including practice, competitions, team meetings and rehab, on top of classes and studying, leave many college athletes feeling overwhelmed and struggling to prioritize their mental and physical wellbeing. Young women athletes face added pressures when compared to their male counterparts—ranging from being expected to look a certain way to unequal representation and inequities in their experiences due to a lack of enforcement of Title IX.

While tragic events over the course of the last year have brought more visibility to the topic of athlete mental health, the greater system is in need of massive change. 48% of women athletes in college have reported experiencing depression or anxiety, yet only 55% say they are aware of how to access mental health resources.

VOICEINSPORT recognizes these challenges, and takes a unique approach to combating them. Serving to complement already available resources at schools, VOICEINSPORT unlocks added access to a network of over 200 Olympic and professional athlete mentors, 80 leading global experts in sport psychology, sports nutrition and women’s health, and premium content created specifically for young women athletes.

Using the VOICEINSPORT platform as a safe space to access resources and a gateway to community building, schools including UCLA, Stanford, Yale and Johns Hopkins are leading the way and stepping up to better the experiences of their women athletes. Upon joining the community, women athletes unlock access to a one-stop shop that can be used to fill any existing gaps in their experience and create a holistic support system. Further, teams and athletic departments have the opportunity to customize a program for their women athletes through small or large group sessions with professional athletes and experts on the platform.

In addition to services to support young women athletes in their athletic endeavors, VOICEINSPORT also provides opportunities for career development. The VIS Creator Internship program is for current collegiate students and student athletes passionate about changing the game for women in sport. With positions available across writing, photo/video, social media, marketing, podcast production, sales and computer programming and operations, and the internship taking place 100% remotely, any athlete looking to work in the world of women’s sports can find her place.

For those who don’t wish to commit to an internship, VOICEINSPORT holds speaker series through which young women athletes can hear from and network with leading women in the sports industry. This past year, VOICEINSPORT conducted a speaker series which hosted incredible women executives including Melanie Strong of Next Ventures, Aimee Arana of Adidas, Katie Strang of The Athletic, Andrea Perez former Nike, Sarah Wilhemi of the USOPC, Kerhyl Gantt of Amazon, Jessica Tiller former Re Inc., Shana Stephenson of The NY Liberty, and Malaika Underwood of OneTeam, Charece Williams of Under Armour, and Michelle Davies of Lululemon.

As we head into 2023, VOICEINSPORT looks to continue to partner with NCAA institutions across the United States to provide resources and improve the holistic journey for all young women in sport. Together with coaches, athletes and athletic department leaders, VOICEINSPORT will build unified communities across and between schools and create a healthier experience for collegiate athletes!
